Machine automation is defined as the field of the professor post. The research and education area is energy efficiency in hydraulic and electric systems and in hybrids. Additional requirement is experience in international research and development work. Beneficial is also industrial experience abroad.
The candidate for the position must have theoretical and practical experience in Rock Engineering. He/she should be used to evaluate Rock stability in tunneling, excavation and slopes, and be able to do risk assessments related to Rock stability methods.
The successful candidate has published in internationally peer-reviewed scientific journals and is knowledgeable in hydraulic engineering, especially in the design of hydraulic structures. He or she has a keen interest in obtaining further knowledge. A clear and creative vision of the development of the field of this chair is paramount, as is the ambition to achieve international academic reputation. The candidate will be expected to initiate, acquire, execute and coordinate research projects. Team-building qualities and communication skills are therefore important. Inspiring lecturing skills are considered crucial. The Professor is expected to contribute to public debate. International applicants must be willing to acquire a working knowledge of the Dutch language.
The objective of the chair of Integral Hydraulic Engineering is to enhance the knowledge related to hydraulic structures and to contribute to the dissemination of such knowledge. Hydraulic structures are structures built to defend land against floods and droughts, to regulate water for agriculture and industry, to provide infrastructure for waterborne and water-related transport and to make use of water as a source of energy. The complexity and uniqueness of hydraulic structures, together with the uncertainties in loads and resistance, require a conceptual and integral approach to optimise the design of these structures. This offers a new perspective involving sustainability, ecodesign, multidisciplinary use of space, adaptability, life cycle management, scale enlargement and the application of new materials and shapes. The advancement of probabilistic design methods is required to develop reliability methods for the design and maintenance of hydraulic structures.
Both positions are tenure track and are initially limited to 7 years. Tenure is envisioned depending on a positive evaluation of the candidate and the successful establishment of a Master program in Health Sciences with specializations in Health Economics and Health Care Management and Health Behavior & Health Promotion. Furthermore the development of research programs funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) or the European Commission’s research framework is desirable.
The Professor is the executive officer of his/her unit and shall carry out the Faculty’s policies, philosophy and goals. He/she will be expected to be visionary in planning, developing and implementing programs in teaching, mentoring and research. The Professor will also be a leader in fostering academic growth and professional development of full-time staff and students.

Assistant Professor is a post that offers an opportunity to qualify for higher research positions, both in academia and in society at large. The appointment is for two + two years of full-time employment. An assistant professor is expected to reach the Swedish docent level (in Swedish "oavlönad docent") within the four years. After two years the progress is assessed. This position consists of approximately 80% research and 20% teaching. In teaching, the co-supervision of Ph.D. students is also included.

A permanent full time position as professor/associate professor of Dentistry (Dental Health Promotion) is vacant at the University of Bergen, Department of Clinical Dentistry. If no qualified applicant applies for the professor position, it will be open for an appointment to the position of associate professor.
The Doctoral Programmes consist of a three-year interdisciplinary graduate course curriculum combined with an experimental project leading to a dissertation. The successful applicant is expected to do research and teaching in the subject area as well as the related administrative tasks. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the development of the institution's education at both the basic and advanced levels, interact with scientists at the department and others within and outside KTH, and supervise thesis projects carried out in the application areas, often at companies.
