The School of Architecture and the Built Environment at the Royal Institute of Technology KTH is hiring a PhD student in the field of transport modeling and simulation. KTH, located in Stockholm, Sweden, is one of Scandinavia's largest and most prestigious institutions of higher education in technology.

We are now looking for 2 PhD candidates in Electric Power Systems, project title: Electricity market design with large amounts of renewable energy. This project examines the impact of increased penetration of renewable energy sources such as wind power and solar power on the design of the electricity market. With large amounts of variable renewable energy the flows in the network will vary more which means that the structure of pricing in the market will change. The question is then what the impact is from different ways of designing the market.

The duties of the professor concern the development of materials science and technology in distin-guished international and domestic research programs. He or she is responsible for the teaching and development of the education of materials science and technology at basic and post-graduate levels. Additionally, the professor is expected to broaden and strengthen the research profile of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering by connecting into it other nearby research areas of materials technology.

Subject description: Mathematics Education includes research on learning, teaching and knowledge formation in and about mathematics.

Candidates should have excellent and thematically as well as methodologically (comparative, ex­pe­ri­mental) broad research experience in the areas of ecosystem services, biodiversity, and sustainable development, with first-class international publications. Moreover, candidates should not only have experience in research, raising external research funds, and teaching, but should also be skilled in disciplinary as well as inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration in individual and cooperative projects.

The Faculty of Science of the University of Fribourg/Switzerland (Department of Geosciences) invites applications for a tenured position of a Professor in Human Geography.

The positions start 01 January 2013. In exceptional cases the candidate can be appointed slightly earlier or later. The research positions have a duration of 1 ½ years with a possible extension for another 1 ½ years and are paid according to the TVL E13 scale of the German public sector (35.000 - 40.000 EUR per year before tax depending on age and marital status). The qualification scholarships have a duration of one year with a tax-free grant of 9.600 EUR (plus an allowance of 4.800 EUR for the first child, plus an allowance of 1.200 EUR for each further child). After having successfully passed the qualification phase, the scholars are invited to apply for a three-year research position.

Lakeside Labs is a platform for goal-oriented, fundamental research on information and communication technologies for self-organizing networked systems.
