PhD position - Nanostructuration of electrodes, from the synthesis of materials to their use with industrial processes for the production of electrochemical sensors

ABSTRACT
Electrochemical sensors can be used in multiple fields including health, industrial process monitoring, agribusiness, agriculture and the environment. This versatility of the applications for electrochemical sensors is due to their ease of use but also to the miniaturization of electrodes and the possibility of making multiparametric platforms on site for specific measurements (point of care for example) or continuous monitoring in real complex media (e.g. amperometric biosensors glucose or heavy metal detection).A significant increase in the exchange surface is essential in order to enhance the sensitivity and/or the dynamic range for potentiometric, amperometric or voltammetric measurements. This increase of the exchange surface can be obtained via the nanostructuration of the measuring electrode. The objective in this thesis is to implement a new methodology for the nanostructuration of electrodes compatible with parallelized manufacturing methodologies (in particular screen printing).The first part of the thesis will be dedicated to the selection of materials and nanomaterials and their formulation in order to manufacture inks for coating electrodes. In a second step, the thesis will aim to specify ways to better control the process of industrialization of the sensors. In a third step, the nanostructured electrodes will be evaluated under real conditions.
