PhD position - Mobility Information Engineering

The Institute of Cartography and Geoinformation is looking for a highly motivated doctoral candidate in the area of Mobility Information Engineering at the Chair of Geoinformation Engineering (www.gis.ethz.ch), starting at the earliest possible date.

PhD position - Mobility Information Engineering

The main objective of this PhD position is the development and testing of innovative computational methods for the analysis, simulation and forecasting of human mobility based on spatiotemporal data. This research will be linked to the Action Plan Digitalization within the Swiss Competence Center for Energy Research - Efficient Technologies and Systems for Mobility (SCCER Mobility) and related projects. The PhD position will be associated with the Mobility Information Engineering Lab and supervised by Prof. Dr. Martin Raubal (Chair of Geoinformation Engineering).

The ideal candidate must have an academic degree in Geomatics, Computer Science, Information Science, or related fields, as well as a strong research interest in sustainable mobility. Knowledge of methods in spatial analysis and machine learning, as well as strong programming skills (e.g., Java, Python or C++) are required. Knowledge of GIS and spatial databases is a plus. The candidate must have good communication skills in English (oral and writing), be team-oriented and willing to work in an international environment.
