Communications Internship


The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-leading institute in global health with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, services, education and training at the local, national and international level. About 850 people from more than 80 nations work at Swiss TPH focusing on infectious and non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health as well as health systems and interventions.

As part of a young and dynamic communications team, you will help position Swiss TPH as a leading institute in global health that combines research, services, education and training. Your focus will be to improve data quality and management of our external stakeholder database.

The internship would ideally start in June/July 2019 and last around 4 6 months. The exact length of the internship and concrete working hours are to be discussed.

Your position

  • Improve the data quality of the external stakeholder database as well as coordinate the management of the database with a variety of internal stakeholders from different departments.
  • Provide writing and editing support in English and German such as for the website, intranet, flyers, etc.
  • Support social media activities by creating audiovisual and text content and posting on the different channels.
  • Support event management such as symposium planning and groups visiting Swiss TPH.

Your profile

  • Demonstrated interest in communications
  • Ability to work confidently across digital, print, and social media platforms
  • Graphic design/layout skills desirable
  • Fluency in written and spoken German and English. Additional language skills such as French are an asset
