Two Postdoc Positions in Political Science
The Department of Social Sciences of the University of Basel invites applications for two Postdoc positions in Political Science, for a duration of two years initially, with possible extension to six years. The starting date of the positions is 1 March 2020, or later. Salary is standardized based on University of Basel guidelines.
Job description
Position 1:
- Develop an independent research agenda in the field of Political Sociology, such as political behavior, party competition, representation, populism, inequality, or political communication
- Contribute to the activities at the Political Science department, as well as to student supervision and tutoring
- Teaching: 2 hours/semester
Position 2:
- Develop an independent research agenda in the field of Comparative Politics, such as representation, party research, political methodology, or political communication
- Contribute to the activities at the Political Science department, as well as to student supervision and tutoring
- Teaching: 2 hours/semester
Your profile
- PhD in Political Science or Sociology
- Skills in quantitative methods and/or computational methods (e.g. text-as-data methods, machine learning)
- Strong command of R and/or Stata
- Didactic competence and enthusiasm for teaching
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues, and to contribute to the academic activities and further development of the Political Science department
- Willingness to contribute to the university's self-administration
- Strong command of English. Knowledge of German is a plus (part of courses are taught in German)
